What makes your home a Green or Healthy Home?

Well was drilled in Aug. 2011 to 360 feet and pump sits at 330. A Grundfos pump was installed so well will run on 110, 220, or DC with solar panels. 6-7 gallons a minute with AC or 2 gallons a minute with solar. The aquifer is rated as one of the best in the state. Water comes from the White Mountains and snowmelt.rn rnWe built a small non toxic cabin to stay in so we had shelter while building. It's cozy. We added a shower house powered by 12 volt and a solar batch water heater which works great. rn rnWe built a small refrigerator/food prep room so there were no fumes in the cabin for the propane refrigerator. We typically cooked on a coleman stove outside so no fumes or smells in the cabin. rn rnThe cabin is heated with a Cozy heater that is direct vent so there is no pilot light or fumes inside the small cabin. Even in the winter it barely came on and used little propane.rn rnWe have a small 160 watt solar system to run some fans, charge phones, computers, and run LED lights.rn rnThe are two box van bodies for storage. One is 22 foot long and the other is 14.rn rnThe septic tank can be installed off the SE corner of the main building pad and the leach field would be down below where we had a perk test in 2006. Or an alternate waste system could be installed.rn rnWe also excavated for a root cellar next to the main building pad. A water holding tank (500-2500 gallons) could be installed above it with the well supplying water to it and then gravity feeding a main cabin on the building pad.rn rnOur roads on our property to the cabin are graveled. The main road in has been maintained by the residents in the area and several residents there regularly chip in for grading and gravel as needed. It has been improved since we bought there 11 years ago to the point where cars travel on it in all weather.rn rnIf you have questions, you can call from the property. There is a signal on most of it but somtimes it drifts a little and you will have to walk around to keep it going depending where you are. We know the reliable spots on the property for Verizon. rn rnLots of interesting rocks on the property and most of the ones on my website are from the property.
