This house was custom designed by an architect to be the arcitype of all solar homes. This house is not in any way a mass produced product and all design input focused tightly on the pure trombe principles. The solarium soars 30 feet up to the top of the (painted dark red) wall. Ten feet by seventy feet with 35 windows at 4 feet by 7 feet size catch the sun at first light. Vertical mass collectors accept the suns energy at a much more favorable geometry than a flat(floor) type mass collector. For nine months of the year the big wall allows either the wood stove or the geo thermal heat pump to dial in the comfort zone needed. Three months of summer find the big wall well shaded by overhang and the big roof vents pulling air from the crawl space by convection. This home is a working solar machine. Property Description

This house is a machine. As the wall heats up just after sunrise the warm air travels up to the line of hopper windows that separate the solarium from the loft. No fans are needed. Should the temperature climb too high, a walkway allows access to close the windows and direct the heat into huge vents that quickly dispose if it. Cool air from openings low in the trombe allow convection to pull ground air from the crawlspace. Geo thermal heat pump /located in the crawlspace works against cool water in the 30 foot well to provide hepa filtered, conditioned air in any amount. Twenty minutes to the open ocean in a fast boat or water ski in the bay and dock in the back yard. 40 foot flag pole, water & elec at the dock. Locally grown & milled yellow pine floors throughout very light color. Cherry cabinets & open riser (6/4) oak stairs, are simple and clean design. The family room is three steps down from the great room and exits to the deck and two steps down to the yard. A wide drive way and large well lit 2 car garage gives entry to a tiled mud room with half bath and laundry then into the kitchen. This house was drawn by a well trained architect and is absolutely one of a kind. The construction was closely supervised by that architect (daily) . The MEP systems are perfect and complete, The floors are solid ,the roof and siding was replaced about ten years ago.

Ocean Pines post office is Berlin Maryland. It is on the mainland side of a shallow coastal bay behind Ocean City, and just North of Assitigue Island National Seashore Park; of wild pony fame. Ocean Pines is an up- scale resort community with a full service marina and Country Club. Many community amenities and a new casino about a short drive away. The house is on a well paved road that ends at the water . The community is very quiet and secure .
