What makes your home a Green or Healthy Home?
Strawbales provide a comfortable, natural, super-insulated environment and would be wasted, even worse, burned off otherwise. The steel postes used for inside and outside framing saves trees, doesn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t warp and consist mainly of recycled cars and washing machines. Even though this home hardly needs heating and cooling, it will have a 19 Seer or 27 EER HVAC system. We provide plumbing/stubbing for floor heating and geothermal system as alternative. Air and drinking water filtration, rainwater collection and gray water usage, several water-on-demand heaters, clean power, etc. etc.Property Description
CHANGE:
Based on the feedback we got (and please keep it coming) we are in the process of re-designing this home for this particular lot by making it much smaller and more affordable, with still causing a "wow" effect.
I wish all our green clients would pool there money together, governed by a reputable escrow company, earning a reasonable interest rate while being in total control of their financial building future, so that we can avoid those terrible lender/mortgage costs where we as developer have to be afraid whether they are still around to complete the project. (This was the reason that we had to pull the plug on this one, the lender did not perform).
The model you see here can still be built on your chosen lot, here is the description:
This 2,900 SF under roof, 2200 livable space modern design is the first totally green construction spec home in PHX built of Straw bales with Steel framing (High Performance Building Systems), S.I.P. metal roof, complete solar system, zero carbon footprint (hardly any utility costs on this one and over production will be sold back to power company), 2 balconies upstairs, 19 Seer/27 EER HVAC, low water use fixtures, water-on-demand heaters, filtration systems, completely sustainable building practices/materials (most from local akagreen.com) - the works! Inside spectacular too, recycled colorful glass counter slab, floor coverings brick, bamboo, cork, no glue or other unhealthy elements, clean power system, air filtration, allergy-free all around.
Call for floor plans, in fact call me anyway and tell me how you like it. We have two more on the drawing board for our 320 acres \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Sanctuary\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" and we want to build what YOU find pleasing.
Reba Grandrud, SS Historical Society, wrote: \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Petra Luh sold her first Straw bale Home in Wikieup, Mohave County, Arizona in 2004. The owner had invited her to spend weekends there in the hottest July as well as in freezing February. Each time the inside temperatures were astonishingly comfortable. In July the old window unit ran just for one hour a day and in winter the fireplace warmed the evenings. Even though the owner built his home from scratch all by himself, only with the help of specific literature and trial & error experiences, his combined utility bill was only $26 per month!
Short before his project was completed, he read about Tony Perry & his \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"High Performance Building System\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" designed for owner-builders, using steel framing instead of wood. Tony had consulted in over 40 straw bale home projects and written the code for New Mexico that was later adopted by other states.
Seeing how Tony has expanded his own residence from 1,500 SF to 6,000 SF with ease and so much charm made it easy to fall in love with this building material & style. It has been used in over 30 countries, some standing proud for 400+ years. Straw bale construction is 2.5 times stronger than conventional, its insulation values is R 40 - R 50 instead of conventional R 11 - R 16. Straw is a natural material, and recycling it and the steel used, etc. is building with sense.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"
Neighborhood Description
I moved from Scottsdale to this great neighborhood because it has so much to offer for people who appreciate nature as well as social interactions and its diverse, interesting architecture. This is a real neighborhood community where people care.
Coming up north on Central Avenue, the prettiest street in this Valley of the Sun, with its Bridal Path under shady mature trees, with beautiful older mansions left and right, you come towards and along the North Mountain Preserve, to the feet of the Hilton Tapatio Hotel where you also can hike or ride for miles, yet you are 15 minutes from the airport and Scottsdale, 10 minutes to downtown Phoenix.Market Area
Phoenix, Paradise Valley and Scottsdale are all seemlessly connected but broken up by Parks, Preserves and golf courses. The average age is 35 years which shows right there the variety this city has to offer on all levels.School District
