Neighborhood Description

Elk Meadows (EM), located 15-20 min. south & above Ridgway, CO, is a 1970's subdivision consisting of approx. 110 residential lots - about 75% are improved with homes or cabins. About 2/3 of the improved properties are year-round residents and the others are seasonal residents. EM is located at 8500 - 9000 ft. elev., is surrounded by ranch land and large parcels and is only a few miles from USFS land and wilderness areas. EM has its own spring-fed water system and partial central sewer sys.

Ridgway is a former railroad town of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Now, it is a service-oriented community with a population of about 1000 and serving as the Gateway to the San Juan Mountains.
