Lodge is on north boundary of Bucksport, about 8 miles from the village. Formerly a mill town, Bucksport is in the midst of an economic and cultural renaissance. Plans for a land-based salmon farm and training facility for nearby Maine Maritime Academy on former mill site are in final states. Bucksport has an historic downtown overlooking the Penobscot Bay. Regional economic and service center is Bangor, approximately 10 miles north of subject.
