The Green Home energy savings features are as follows: Energy Star Rated. Home was inspected, tested, and certified by a qualified energy rater, with documentation to that affect. Home will qualify for an energy efficiency mortgage (dollar limits may apply depending on your mortgage company) and buyer federal tax credits (currently $1,000.00). Closed cell spray foam insulation (soy based) including attic and crawl spaces. Utilizes a hybrid insulation package in walls (combination of closed cell and batting to achieve higher r-values. Attic is a non-ventilated type, engineered to achieve higher insulating effects with the closed cell foam applied directly to the underside of the roof. Bonus is; it increases the total structural strength, to make it stronger, for a higher overall wind resistance effect. Crawl space is a non-ventilated type, engineered to be slightly pressurized whenever the heating or air conditioning is on. The overall effect keeps the floor above dry (hardwood flooring is therefore more stable and unaffected by outdoor temperature changes). Bonus; it allows for all the air conditioning ductwork to be within the insulated envelope, so a higher energy savings can be achieved. Geo-thermal air conditioning and heating system with a closed loop water heat exchanger. Also includes a hot water inverter to provide supplemental heating to the hot water tank. During the air conditioning season most of the hot water will be generated without electrical usage (free hot water).rnIt has two indoor units, one zoned for the first floor with the hot water tank inverter and the other with two zones for the second and third floors. Given the duct work is within the insulated envelope of the house and tested for tightness, it is anticipated that an additional moderate energy savings is gained. The system includes a make-up air supply that is conditioned and is designed to provide fresh air make-up, as needed, as the whole house is very air tight. Electrical carbon savings reduction is equivalent to removing two or more cars from service. Much consideration was taken with the design of the site plan to keep existing trees in place therefore helping additionally with summer temperatures. This house has the building blocks neccessary to be off the grid. With the addition of high efficiency solar panels, which we offer as an option, this home could easily be selling power back to the power company.
