Off grid living. Solar power with plenty of sun. Very good well water
To the south is an airplane B&B and art gallery. To the north is the successor to the Ann Wigmore Center. They are completely off grid and raise all organic food for themselves and for clients when they have 1-3 week sessions. You must see to believe what they have accomplished in a short time. The border town of Palomas is 7 miles south. You can park and walk in or drive in (either way you need a passport to get back in now) The Pink Store has artwork from all over Mexico for very reasonable prices, and a great restaurant. Pharmacies and dentists are less than half the price in US.
Columbus 4 miles north of border is where Pancho Villa raided the US in 1912. It's a small town but has a wonderful volunteer library with books, videos and computers. There is a grocery store/pizza parlor/ dance hall, and several historic sites. An RV park ; a church; a very decent clinic.
Deming is 30 miles north on Highway 11. There is a Library,Hospital, churches, good restaurants- especially for Mexican food. Peppers Grocery store on the south edge of town is very good. Walmart, Kmart, stores for most everything you need- there's no movie house tho.
A school in Columbus and many in Deming.
