The rainwater harvesting has a 2000 gallon capacity that is kept in dark spaces and can be safely used for rinse water, showers, washing machine, and watering the gardens. It can be filtered for drinking water, but it's actually cheaper just to buy purified primo water at Walmart.
The compost toilet is homemade because it's a very simple process of drying out human waste with a small fan while while adding sawdust and can easily be removed and dumped into a compost tumbling bin with other food waste. It makes excellent fertilizer with no smell and completely dry.

The solar electric is grid tie that keeps the electric bills very low. $363 total electric for the year and that includes charging my electric car that I drove a appx 8000 miles. A car getting 35 mpg that same distance would have cost $800 paying $3.50/gallon.
