All roofs are metal except the greenhouse that has clear polycarbonate panels. The roofs provide clean rain water runoff.

There is a section of clover and wildflowers that replace the field grass.

The rainwater harvesting has a 2000 gallon capacity that is kept in dark spaces and can be safely used for rinse water, showers, washing machine, and watering the gardens. It can be filtered for drinking water, but it's actually cheaper just to buy purified primo water at Walmart.

The compost toilet is homemade because it's a very simple process of drying out human waste with a small fan while while adding sawdust and can easily be removed and dumped into a compost tumbling bin with other food waste. It makes excellent fertilizer with no smell and completely dry.
